It is a little concerning that people want to add an Equal Rights Amendment to the Constitution when the 14th Amendment states in Section 1: “All persons born or naturalized int eh United States, and subject to the jurisdiction therof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside. No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.”
The State of Virginia has, as of late, been acting in a very tyrannical manner and it is becoming a concern for all states when a single state acts out and violates basic Constitutional laws, such as they are doing with enacting Un-Constitutional gun measures without the consent of their own constituents. In addition to violating the People’s Second Amendment Rights there is a movement to violate their First Amendment to silence anyone who disagrees with their legislature. Now comes the move on the Equal Rights Amendment.
Why ADD another amendment when equality is already given? There is no logic in doing so, unless the alternate amendment give certain rights to groups of people and there is where we have an Un-Constitutional amendment. Giving rights to certain groups as we have done with illegal aliens (yes I dare use that term), groups with sexual letters (LGBTQ) and women, only alienate the other groups not mentioned, such as socio-economic groups, religious groups, scientific groups etc.
The argument for equal rights was a women’s movement and at the time, society was putting limits on women not the Constitution! Societal norms change over the centuries and our Founding Fathers found that stating “All men are created equal” in this manner, they according to the equal rights groups were saying that MEN, not women were equal. Well as they wrote the Declaration of Independence & Constitution, their society meant sexual men. HOWEVER, that would include men of color and every creed, not just white Europeans. We humans are often referred to as “man or mankind” therefore, isn’t it logical to use the terms mankind in place of “men or man” and still have the same meaning? Of course it is, therefore, there is no need for an amendment to make female mankind equal as it has already been given. Heck, even in the Bible times, where society was a man focused society, there were women who stood out in history as leaders and in Proverbs 31, the ideal wife is described as a productive and resourceful woman, in other words, the ideal wife is an entrepreneur (which indicates a wife who is a businesswoman).
So, for all you feminists out there, you have really missed the boat on equality. Society has changed and there is no need for an amendment on equality, it is already there, you just can’t see it for all the hatred in your hearts for men. If you want equality, then prove your worth, be outstanding in what you do as a person, not as a screaming vagina.
