Another list of meetings about the Kansas Nebraska Heritage Area Partnership will be posted on my Powell4Kansas Facebook page. We have four meetings so far and one or two may be added to the list as Angel can get scheduled. On that list is Concordia, Blue Rapids, Salina and Osborne, Kansas. Angel is trying to get a meeting lined up in Nebraska as well. Remember that resolutions at the county level are important to have, so that we can let those pushing agendas such as National Heritage Areas that we don’t appreciate things done that have consequences that are bad for the landowners.
GOOD NEWS: The HR 1049 National Heritage Act of 2020 failed in the Senate Committee.
BAD NEWS: HR 1049 was REVIVED in the NEW HR 803 which passed the House of Representatives and is probably going to pass in the Senate because it was STUFFED INTO ANOTHER BILL called; Protecting America’s Wilderness and Public Lands Act. IF we do not pay attention to what is happening in Washington DC, we will never get control of it again. BUT if we keep an eye on them and call them out for wasteful spending, there is much we can do.
